Home Visits
Are you struggling with creating a healthy environment in the home? Have you every wished that you could have a nutritionist come into your home to help your family develop healthier eating habits? Michelle Babb, registered dietitian and certified SHAPEDOWN® provider, enjoys meeting with families in their own environment to motivate every family member to take steps toward better nutrition.
What’s involved in a home visit?
Each home visit is different, depending upon the family’s needs, but a typical home visit may include one or more of the following:
- Goal setting - a comprehensive discussion with all family members to determine each person’s health goals and identify potential barriers.
- Pantry makeover – learn how to become an expert label reader, find hidden food ingredients and work with Michelle to clean out the pantry and refrigerator to make room for the good stuff!
- Grocery shopping field trip – Michelle accompanies you on a trip to your grocery store to help you select nutritious foods and streamline your shopping.
- Food prep workshop – for those who feel like they want to eat healthy but don’t have time to prepare nutritious meals and snacks. Michelle works with you in your kitchen to show you some tricks of the trade that make healthy eating fast and easy.
Am I good candidate for a home visit?
Any family could benefit from a home visit. If you can identify with any of the following statements, a home visit is for you:
- “I’m concerned about my family’s eating habits, but I don’t know where to start.”
- “I have a difficult time fitting meal planning and cooking into our busy family schedule.”
- “My child is overweight and I’d like to start setting healthier examples.”
- “Meal time feels very unstructured and chaotic.”
